Houston Maker Faire is one of the primary display events for TexLUG-Houston each year. We always provide a wide range of models built with LEGO® bricks; nearly everything is custom-designed and built by our members.  This year we are planning exhibits that include a large Space layout, a Wild West display that covers about 50 square feet, models of scenes and characters from popular movies, and much more. In addition, there will be an extensive train/town display created by a related group, Texas Brick Railroad.  This will be at least the 5th year we have participated at Maker Faire, and we expect 20-25 of our members to be at this year’s show.

For the first time, TexLUG-Houston will be running some games in our display area. A few times each day public attendees will have a chance to compete against each other and see how fast they can build a LEGO® set using the instructions.  There will also be a demonstration of Mobile Frame Zero™, a tabletop wargame where everything is made out of LEGO® parts. As always, we will have loose brick available for anyone to build and play with, also new for this year is our Power Racing car.  The Maker Faire organizers want to introduce Power Racing to the show, and TexLUG-Houston has been able to assemble an awesome car! We expect our Highly Sophisticated Interlocking Vehicle System will be the best-decorated racer at the show!

TexLUG-Houston is a diverse group of people who enjoy building, displaying, and collecting all things LEGO®.  About once a month we get together to talk LEGO®, swap parts, build things, and just have a good time. We display our models at a local children’s museum, children’s hospitals, and comic-con shows.  We are generally an adult group, but definitely family-friendly. Anyone who enjoys this highly sophisticated interlocking brick system is welcome at our meetings or displays. For more information, please visit our website at www.texlughouston.com.
